Our Mission
First Assembly of God exists
to encourage everyone we come in contact with to put GOD FIRST!
Our Mission Defined
F – FAITH. We grow people in their faith through DISCIPLESHIP.
We purpose to teach believers from the Bible in practical terms how to live the Christian life. We will train them in Biblical doctrine and for Christian service.
1 Peter 2:2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby
Acts 20:32 "So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.
I – INTIMACY. We grow in intimacy through WORSHIP.
Worship involves both joyful celebration and reverent contemplation. We will do both with the focus on Jesus Christ.
Psalm 100:1-2 Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth. Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before Him with joyful singing. (NAS)
Psalm 47:1 Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph!
Psalm 63:5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, And my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.
Psalm 66:1 Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth!
Matthew 28:9 And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, "Rejoice!" So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him.
Revelation 5:8 Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
Revelation 7:11 All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God
Christianity is a relationship with Jesus Christ. Thus, we want to be close to Him. We will nurture this relationship each day by spending time alone with God in prayer and in His Word.
John 17:3 "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
Galatians 4:9 But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God…
1 Chronicles 16:11 Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face evermore!
John 5:39 "You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.
Psalms 119:9 How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.
John 17:17 "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
Psalms 5:3 My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD; In the morning I will direct it to You, And I will look up.
Psalms 55:17 Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, And He shall hear my voice.
R – RELATIONSHIPS. We grow in relationships through FELLOWSHIP.
We see ourselves, in part, as a support group for recovering sinners. We purpose to nurture each others' spiritual growth by encouraging one another and holding each other accountable in his walk with Christ.
Hebrews 3:12-13 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called "Today," lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
Hebrews 10:23-24 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works
Proverbs 27:17 Iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens another. (NAS)
Galatians 6:1 Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.
Matthew 18:15-18 "Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’ And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector. Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
It is every member's responsibility to promote the mission, protect the reputation, and ensure the success of the church.
Luke 4:16 So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.
Hebrews 10:25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
2 Corinthians 12:20-21 For I fear lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and that I shall be found by you such as you do not wish; lest there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbitings, whisperings, conceits, tumults; lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and I shall mourn for many who have sinned before and have not repented of the uncleanness, fornication, and lewdness which they have practiced.
Ephesians 4:16 From [Christ] the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
S – SERVICE. We grow in our service through MINISTRY.
The church is the body of Christ. The whole church is the body, not just the pastor, church board and staff. Thus, we commit ourselves to helping members discover their spiritual gifts and mobilizing every member in service to Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches that everything in our lives - time, abilities, and finances - belongs to the Lord and that we are to manage His resources in His way. As God has entrusted His message to us, believers are stewards of the gospel.
Ephesians 4:11-13. It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12 to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Romans 12:6-8 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
1 Corinthians 12:4-7 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all
1 Peter 4:10-11 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
T – TESTIMONY. We grow in our testimony through EVANGELISM.
Evangelism is the main work of the whole church until Christ returns. We commit ourselves to intentionally sharing the gospel. We emphasize evangelizing those outside the church as well as within.
Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.
Acts 1:8 "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
